We have a similar problem. 2 840's, a terrabyte of drives and a pretty cabinet. No CIFS license.

We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit.

But we aren't using the filer as a door stopper!

iSCSI licenses are not free!

They are only free to customers who have licensed a NAS protocol (CIFS or NFS).

Evidenced by the fact that you must log into the NOW site to get the iSCSI license key....

do not abuse a filer as a door stopper!

but
get an iSCSI license, it's free
create a virtual disk
mount that from a Windows Server
'share that folder'

works with Linux as well

do not abuse a filer as a door stopper!

is it licensed? without an nfs or cifs license, your not going
to be able to export anything or make any available shares.

type 'license' on the console to see
