Hi Alon,
If this is going to be any type of production system, I would
defer to the Netapp Compatibility Matrix Database online at:
http://now.netapp.com/matrix/mtx/login.do
If you choose Sun Solaris 9, and your HBA, and iSCSI, all the
returned rows say NO to multipathing.   However I am new to the
matrix database so please try for yourself.
Also what’s interesting is if I look at all iSCSI and
Solaris, I see multipathing is supported for Solaris 10 not with IPMP, but with
MPxIO instead.  So there is definitely a gap somewhere in the information
at hand.  When you said it is possible to get IPMP to handle failover, was
this a previously supported config, or it just “worked”?  Actually
if I refer to http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/817-5093/fncpc?a=view
it says IPMP and MPxIO work together, is that how you did it?

Subject: Solaris 9 Iscsi HBA failover question
Hello Toasters
I'm going to implement Iscsi network on solaris 9 machine and FAS2020 cluster
As you know iscsi software initiator is available only on solaris 10
and it's possible to achieve failover in with IPMP and software initiator
since i will be using solaris 9 machine i need hardware initiator in my case i
will be using  2 qla4010c
is it possible to achieve redundancy at the host side ( HBA failover \
multipathing) in this configuration
if so how ?
Thanks
