Yes it works and is supported by both companies.
You can interop with no issues for SnapMirror though Ontap level restrictions apply (use similar Ontap levels).
 
Additionally Operations Manager and OSSV clients can also work with each others systems though OSSV should match the same brand
though it's not enforced. It is supported.

I’ve done this a while ago (ONTAP 7.2 sort of time frame).  It does indeed work from a technical point of view, though I’m not sure whether it’s actually a supported solution by either vendor.
