If they're avoiding a brand because of perceived reliability, remind them that that's not their problem, it's Netapp's. Anyways, they'll be hard pressed to find a manufacturer that allows you to choose which brand of drives go inside the cages.

Have a look at the disk firmware matrix. That I believe has disk manufacturer. However I am not sure there are different part numbers for a given brand.
