I'd be glad of theoretical comments and practical experience since it
seems very attractive to have the mail drop directory on a filer. I've
never dared try!
MTA = qmail with Maildir mailbox format (bugproof
over NFS)

Maildirs,
unlike mbox files and mh folders, won't be corrupted if the system
crashes during delivery. Even better, not only can a user safely read
his mail over NFS, but any number of NFS clients can deliver mail to
him
at the same time.

MUA = any (unix / windows) acessing the mail throught POP and IMAP with
courier-imap
mail server = redhat 7.1
mail storage = netapp (with an NFS mount point and a symlink)
