At the moment, I can find only one way to do this and it is a little "ugly". Does anyone have a simpler method?

 

Problem; I have just installed a new filer and I need to give myself Local Administrator access. i.e. Add myself to the Builtin\Administrators local group

 

Mitigating Factor; I do not have Domain Admins rights. (Domain admins are the only group that are added to a filer by default on a CIFS-only filer)

 

The good news; I have root access and have given myself cifs access to the \\filer\C$ share

 

Current solution;

Manually edit the \etc\lclgroups.cfg file to include my SID\UID\GUID (or whatever windows calls my unique identifier these days) under the "Administrators" section. What is the easiest way to determine this identifier?

 

What I know does not work;

1)       Computer Management Snap-in. I need the local Administrator rights that I am trying to get and I cannot see a way to "Run As" the MMC as a local filer administrator
